Two-for-One

HOUSING FOR NARROW LOTS

Why bother trying to squeeze a typical single-family house on a narrow lot?

Two-for-One instead provides possibilities for insertions of other housing types within the conventional fabric of residential neighborhoods. Taking advantage of the narrow lot and the iconic form of the house, two building units are placed at either end of the lot with a shared outdoor room between. These units are mixed and matched from three element types – the WORKhouse, the OPENhouse, and the ROOMhouse – to offer multiple dwelling configurations for differing needs. While the single-family house serves only one housing need, Two-for-One provides housing for a diverse population and creates a varied pattern of development.
