Rail Yard Node

LIGHT RAIL NODE STATION

The Rail Yard Node is the local complement to the Rail Yard transit center in the proposed Charleston light rail network. As such, the node is shaped for identity as part of the system within the scale of a neighborhood. Reminiscent of the main transit station in shape, the node similarly provides space for exterior uses such as food vendors or small farmer’s stands to create a series of local civic spaces throughout the city.

The node is intended as a prototype adaptable to a variety of situations and contexts. The design may be implemented both as a transit stop on an urban street right-of-way and as a suburban park-and-ride.
